The U.S. Senate has confirmed President Trump's nominee to be the top federal prosecutor in South Dakota.
The Senate confirmed Ronald Parsons Wednesday night to be U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota. Parsons will replace Randy Seiler, who was appointed by President Obama in 2015.
Parsons was a partner at Johnson Janklow Abdallah. He has argued numerous cases and specialized in appellate work at the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals and the South Dakota Supreme Court.
Seiler announced his retirement from the U.S. Attorney's Office effective on Dec. 31. He had been with the office for 22 years.
There are 94 U.S. attorneys who are responsible for prosecuting federal criminal and civil cases. They report to the attorney general of the United States.
