Morgan grew up on her family's farm in Gayville, South Dakota, and graduated from Vermillion High School.

Morgan attended college at South Dakota State University to study English Writing. While at SDSU, she participated in the National Student Exchange Program and completed a semester at North Carolina State University, ending the program with a 4.0 GPA. Morgan graduated from the South Dakota State Honor's College program, magna cum laude, with her degree in English Writing in 2015. Morgan stayed in Brookings and enrolled in English graduate courses at SDSU while working as both a Technical Writer for Daktronics and teaching English Composition at SDSU. After nearly six years in Brookings, Morgan decided to move back to Vermillion to attend law school.

During law school at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law, Morgan worked as a summer intern for the South Dakota Governor's Office and for Marlow, Woodward, & Huff, Prof. LLC. She was a member of the Moot Court Board and attended four competitions. Of the four competitions, Morgan was a back-to-back best oralist award recipient at two: the Region-14 New York City Bar Moot Court Competition hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law Moot Court Competition hosted by the University of Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law. Morgan’s late father encouraged her to practice law, so her favorite memory was attending her law school graduation ceremony in 2020 with her family.

Morgan is a member of the East River Legal Services Board and the Administrative Law Committee. In 2024, Morgan received the Public Sector Rising Star Award. Morgan started her legal practice in civil litigation but also gained trial experience in criminal and family law.

In her free time, Morgan enjoys running, teaching yoga, and serving as a coach for the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law Moot Court Board.
